DuoNeb® is used to help treat airway narrowing (bronchospasm) that happens with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) in adult patients who need to use more than one bronchodilator medicine.
What is the difference between DuoNeb and albuterol?
Duoneb (ipratropium / albuterol) is a combination of two medications that help you breathe. Ipratropium is a short-acting muscarinic antagonist (SAMA). Albuterol is a short-acting beta-agonist (SABA).
Is a DuoNeb a steroid?
DuoNeb is a steroid and Ventolin HFA is a bronchodilator. Side effects of DuoNeb and Ventolin HFA that are similar include nausea, vomiting, headache, sore throat, runny or stuffy nose, cough, mouth/throat dryness or irritation, unpleasant taste in the mouth/changes in taste, or hoarseness.
How often can you do a DuoNeb treatment?
DuoNeb is usually used 4 times per day. Follow your doctor’s dosing instructions very carefully. Do not use more than 6 inhalations in a 24-hour period. Overuse of DuoNeb may increase the risk of death.
How is DuoNeb given?
DuoNeb should be administered via jet nebulizer connected to an air compressor with an adequate air flow, equipped with a mouthpiece or suitable face mask. How long is a DuoNeb treatment?
It is recommended that you use a mouthpiece rather than a face mask with the nebulizer or that you close your eyes during use. Each treatment usually takes about 5 to 15 minutes. Use this medication only through a nebulizer. Do not swallow or inject the solution.
