Currently, FIXD is able to read active check engine light. The other lights such as TPMS, ABS, Airbag, Maintenance lights, and Stability Control, are controlled by manufacturer-specific parameter identifiers, which make it difficult to communicate through the OBD-II port.

Can FIXD diagnose transmission problems?

You can use FIXD’s live data feature to help with this. If the timing of the noises lines up with the timing of the shifting periods, it could be your transmission.

Do you leave FIXD plugged in all the time?

Can I leave FIXD in my car all the time? You can leave the sensor plugged in all the time, as it uses very little power when not communicating with the app. If you leave your car sitting for more than 3 weeks, we recommend that you remove the sensor.

Can I turn off my check engine light with FIXD?

FIXD makes it super easy to clear the check engine light. This is especially useful when you have an issue that’s easy to fix at home, such as a loose gas cap or simple DIY repair.

Can FIXD be used on more than one car?

One FIXD device can be used with multiple vehicles, but we do recommend having one FIXD sensor per vehicle in order to get the most out of it. With one sensor per car, you can keep track of your mileage and provide updates when your vehicle is coming up on its next maintenance interval.

How do I clear my check engine light without a scanner?

To reset a check engine light without a scanner, disconnect the negative battery cable and wait a few moments. This will reset the diagnostic system in your vehicle, and if the underlying issue has indeed been resolved, the light should go off immediately.

Can you clear codes on your car?

The codes can be cleared with an OBD2 scanner or the battery can be disconnected to reset the check engine light. It is recommended that both methods clear all Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs) from the On-Board Diangntoic computer at least temporarily.

How do I get my check engine light off after I fix it?

Turning the Ignition On and Off

The on-off method is the equivalent fix for a vehicle’s check engine light. It forces the computer to refresh its saved state through a reboot. Simply place your key into the ignition and turn it on for 1-2 seconds, then turn it off for 1-2 seconds. Repeat this step three or four times.

How do I clear my FIXD history?

Click “Clear Engine Light” on the details page to clear the code. If the code is cleared but the issue with the vehicle is not resolved, the check engine light may reappear after a certain number of miles have been driven. If the code is emissions related, FIXD cannot clear it due to Federal Regulations.
