Does million hearts plant need sunlight?
This plant does well in indirect light. While it thrives in bright indirect light, I have mine in medium light, and it is doing well! It just isn’t thriving as much as it does when it gets more light. You should avoid direct sun, as it will have discoloration of the leaves, and could cause more severe damage.

Dischidia doesn’t really need fertilizer but you should change the planting media every year. If you wish, apply a diluted by half liquid plant food when you water beginning in spring and stopping by September. Remember to keep training any plants that are being supported as they grow.
How do you water Dischidia?
Allow the planting medium to dry out before you water the plant. They are used to getting moisture only from dew and the air, and cannot tolerate boggy media. When the bark medium is dry to the touch, submerge the container in water until air bubbles are gone.
How do you propagate Dischidia cuttings?
Cut short segments of the stem and let them heal and dry. Then put them on top of some moist sphagnum moss – strings may be needed to secure them in place. The stem cuttings should be placed in a protected place away from direct sunlight and wind with the sphagnum moss kept moist at all times.
Is Dischidia ovata a Hoya?
Dischidia Ovata is a cousin of the Hoya and gets its species name “ovata” because of its ovate, or egg-shaped, leaves. Dischidia Ovata is an air plant, an epiphyte needing very little care and attention – it only needs sunlight, air and a little water to survive!

Root or leaf rot is a common issue among specimens sat in too dark environments with prolonged soil moisture. Symptoms include yellow or rotten leaves, mouldy soil/Moss, stunted growth and a rotten base resting against the soil or Moss. Take the plant out of the pot and inspect health below the compost line.

Sold under the name “variegated string of hearts” or “string of hearts pink,” you can get these with different amounts of variegation. Some have gentle pink edges, while others have insane amounts of pink. These are a bit harder to come by than a regular ceropegia woodii, but you shouldn’t have many issues finding one.
